Time for new Belt Grinder

I've been messing around with the idea of undertaking building a new belt grinder. My son Josh gave up his Saturday to help the old man out, here he's working on the belt tracking system. I'll post pictures of it when it's finished I ordered all new wheels it will be finished when they get here this coming week.

Finished; this is has a five inch contact wheel. I have an eight and a ten, but I plan on making good use of this one.

Have you used it yet?

I bet you saved at least a grand by making it yourselves.

Yes; and it works great, no way to bog it down. I actually tried, I took a pice of 1/4 in steel and tried to stop the belt.. no way, it just kept on going.

Actually I saved about 1,500 bucks by making it myself.. I like to make my own stuff. I've been making my own long and recuve bows, leather quivers for years. I've even made an electric guitar, I used some old humbuckers I had from an old Gipson that I upgraded. My son used it on stage with me for years when we were playing music.
