Havalon Knives

I purchased a new knife at www.havalon.com Ph. 513-271-2117, and it should do the job very well. Good luck.

It's a niche knife. Keep us posted.

My buddy has one and although we went through three blades on the bull elk he got this year by the time we got it skinned and quartered out in the field, they are great and scalpel sharp. They are a must for a backpacking hunt in that they weigh so little for an item that is a must have on any hunt.

You don't have to worry about trying to sharpen it.

I have one as well, They really do speed up the work. My hunting partner shot a bull in the afternoon this season. I remember saying we better hustle if we are going to get this animal packed out before dark. I did break one blade ( on a hip joint) but I was back in business within a minute. My Elk hunting partners are all buying them.
Deer season we had two bucks down in the same canyon, the havalon worked as it does and we went through 2 deer with one blade. quickly
I have owned many knives over the years but the Havalon is great gear. I will never go hunting without it.

I got one of these last week. Hope to try it out on a late season deer on Saturday shortly after dusk. I'll keep you posted.

I do a lot of caping out heads and when you nick bone all the time the blade of your knife gets dull fast. I have one of these knives now and with all the knife work I end up doing it sure is nice and keeps my regular knives in great shape. I'm a fan.

Anyone try the new Torch?

You can get the same thing at your local hardware or craft store for a lot less. Just sayin'

I've read numerous topics concerning the Havalon knives for the past few years. Three weeks ago, a group of us went to Texas for our annual hog hunt. After watching the ranch folks skin out and "quarter" 21 hogs with the Havalon Piranta...I was sold! I now own my very own....very impressive!

Too much the old timer But I understand

I sharpen hunting knives, hatchets, pocket knives, lawn mowers, Thanksgiving turkey knife, broadheads, and an assortment of other items.
Used small knives to gut and skin out an animal. Carry a small stone to sharpen up knives in the field. And a very small swiss army knife as a backup to my pocket knife and hunting knife.

I kindly remember the professional knife sharpener who gave me my first and best instructions. Him and the butcher's I've known.

Sorry for the slow reply. The knife I am referring to is the Stanley - 10-049 - 4-1/4" Pocket Knife with Rotating Blade. Ive used it. It works. And, if you loose it no big loss.

X-acto knives are the ones I had in mind regarding the craft store comment.

Not quite the same.... I have used stanley tools for some time and I can assure you the knife for general use and cutting flooring is not the same. Stanley's version is Epoxy vs. the high tech plastic of the Havalon.
The Havalon is balanced and lightweight the stanley is not.
the stanley blade replacement cost is 4 bucks each blade. Havalon is around .50 cents
The stanley is a POS the Havalon is not
Just sayin'

Butchering for a living for several years, so do I. I just enjoy the convenience of not having to do so in the field.
