Sabots hard to load
 

Hello Im shooting a CVA Optima 50 cal. I use the TC sst sabot 300 grains with 80 grains of loose triple ffg. These shoot great very good groups. They are however very tight going down the barrel, even running a swab every shot.These have a black plastic skirt around them.Do they make a smaller skirt?? I dont use bore butter.Just clean with a solvent and then rem oil when not shooting.Is there a slightly smaller sabot, I can try? I have tried powerbelts they load great , just lousy acuracy. Im really happy with the sst , just wish they were easier to seat. Would bore butter help?Thanks

are you using knights cleaning solvent? If you are thats why its going down hard. This stuff gets everything sticky including your barrel, which makes it hard to push the bullet down. I used this stuff at my last range shooting and hated it

I saw the harvester plastic skirt what just buy a diffrent size skirt?? How will I know witch one to get for my 50 cal? I didnt see a size of the skirting looking at a box of the Tc 300 grain sst?

Thanks for the heads-up on the red Knight solvent. Alot of folks with loading/seating problems don't realize that alot of solvents & lubes they are using are tacky & makes loading even-more difficult. That's why I promote Windex/Alky 50-50 in a spray bottle at the range.

Around two months ago, I bought a new GM 50-cal barrel for a Renegade stock I have. Included with the barrel was a pack of round patches, 20 T/C Cheapshot 240s and the red Knight solvent. I mixed it-in with some Butch's Blackpowder Bore Shine I had remaining... making the mixture around 50-50. Won't be using it at the range & I remove all traces of solvents after I'm done cleaning & just before I oil the bore - so the somewhat tacky Butch's-Knight combination cleaner I made-up will be short-lived on my bore walls (like only five minutes before dry-patching - then oiling).

Good Info. I printed the info on harvester sabots. I'm gonna try those next season in my .45 Knight (a real bear to load).

Yep.... the black ones (45/50)

Just keep in mind that they load a little easier. They will decrease your grunts.... might not eliminate them.

The green ones (44/50) that decrease my grunts I get from MMP. You can buy thin black 45/50s from MMP. They are called "HPH 24" when you call by phone. However, I get NO relief from them personally because they use a different polymer in 45/50 that to my touch/feel, are not as slippery as the Harvesters.
