Anyone use a 54Cal T/C Thunderhawk?
I am thinking about buying a 54Cal T/C Thunderhawk to use for big game. Is it a good shooting gun? Is there a big difference in distance shooting between these and a 50Cal? I know I can't get to far, but just curious on that. Any comments on that gun would be great!

Oh yeah.... Used it for 3 seasons now...Very light weight and easy to clean..I have been shooting 100 gr. FF using a 365gr maxi hunter bullet..I have taken 3 deer with it so far. Furthest shot was 75 yds with open sights...I plan on changing to a powerbelt 365 grain and adding a scope..A real nice gun for the money...

JERSEY JOE LIKE TO ASK YOU A QUESTION.ON THAT 54CAL T/C WOULD LIKE TO USE A QT 40'S POLT TIP SABOT IN AROUND 300 GRAIN OR THE 350 GRAIN.THE T/C IS A 24 INCH BARREL WITH A 1 38 TWIST ,SABOT MADE BY PR. WHAT DO YOU THINK.

Shoot the 300 grain...It will shoot a little flatter...Try them out and see how the shoot. I tred 3 bullets before I went with the maxi-hunters. I'm going to try the powerbelts...Hearing too many good things.

Thanks guys, I figured it was a good gun, but just checking. I really want to order one here as I am planning a Muzzloader Elk Hunt for this fall. I have a 50 Cal that I've shot quite a few deer with here in OH, but it needs to be retired.
JersyJoe who makes those Maxi Hunter Bullets and the Powerbelts?
Lonewolf, I bet I know where you ordered yours from. Around $150? I hope they still have one left!

LongSpur, I had one in 54 cal and was a good shooter when on the bench but shooting it in the field was a different deal. I'm a big guy around 260lbs, seemed like the gun was just to small for me. Gave it to my wife to use and she shoots the hell out of it, and has gotten several deer with it. One at 150yds with open sites.
