Just got a T/C omega...

I first bought a CVA Buckhorn and last weekend I was finally starting to get it zeroed. Two scopes later I finally got it in the bullseye ring at 54 yards. I had been shooting for several hours before I finally threw the Mauser scope off. I'll go around the 20th of the month to fine tune at 50 and 100 yards.

So this week I put a nice bow up for trade and got a T/C omega with the pine ridge scope. Gun is two years old, was fired less around 80-85 times, and extremely clean. My question is when I go and get more ammo what rounds should I use.

With the CVA it shoots the Power belts great--295 aero tips and hollow points. I would like to shoot the PB in the T/C, but the owner manual says nothing about PB's--only T/C sabots. I have the T7 pellets and loose T7. Talk about crudding up a barrel. The T7's powder sucks. I don't have access to APP or BM3 because I refuse to spend money on Hazmat so I'm stuck with what Bass Pro sells. In two weeks I'll be in Tulsa at the convention center and there is a gun shop two blocks that sells APP. I'll get a few pounds there. Any how--sorry to be so long winded, but what is the best round for the Omega's and yes I know each rifle is different.

Thanks for the help
Paul

I have good lucl with almost any 300gr. bullet. My omega shoots Powerbelts just great. Usually Powerbelts perform great 100 yards or less. I have heard that they fall off right after 100 yards. My Omega does not do well with 777 as the crud ring is unbearable. I got some BM3 and really love the stuff. APP is my second choice for powder.

I use powerbelts in my omega. It shoots just fine out to 100. I also use pyrodex pellets not 777. I have had no problems with the pyrodex so far.

I use Hornady SST 250s in front of 100 grains of pyrodex pellets with great accuracy through my Omega. I got good groups with 200 gr shockwaves too, but id rather save money and shoot hornady with just as good groups. I dont see any reason to switch from the pyrodex, its not bad at all. IMO, if you dont want to have to clean the gun then you shouldnt be muzzleloading, it just part of it.

Well this past saturday I finally shot the Omega. Great gun, crisp trigger. Was shooting a 295 Aero tip PB/w 90grains of 777 3f powder. After a few shots at 54 yards the scope was sighted in. Groups where tight and this next weekend I should have the No Excuse conical bullets in the 460's and I will shoot these from the omega. This (I am hoping) will be the bullet for these itty bitty deer we have here in Ill. I am thinking that for a back up gun/bullet combo that my CVA Buckhorn with 295 AT and 90 grains of 777 will do.

I'll give an update at 100 yards for the No Excuse bullets.

By the way if you are going to buy some APP make sure you get the fffg not the ffg which is real coarse. fffg also shoots a little cleaner. Not as clean as Black Mag'3 but the next best thing for me anyway.

Thanks Keith--the 3f was the one that I thought about getting. Just confirms what I thought.
