That is an age old question. I usually ask them, what distance is your average shot? There is little reason to sight in at 100+ yards if all your shots are 50 yards and under. Also the amount of drop by an projectile will be determined by the type and weight of the projectile your shooting, also your powder charge being used. If you really want to get technical, you can even figure in barrel length to a small degree.

I personally sight my scopes in at 75 yards. Then if the animal is a little further it makes no difference. If they are a little less, it still makes no difference. If I am going to shoot paper targets, then it is a matter of testing the projectile and adjusting for what I find....

Really depends on your load combination.
With my loads for deer which are on the higher charge side, I sight in at 100 yards. Usually an inch or so high and that will leave me at 0" at 150yd.

I'll still back up to pattern at both 75 & 50 to see where things are and fine tune from there.

You don't want a combo that is 0" at 150 and 5+" high at 50-75 yards.

I sight in 2 1/2 high at 100...about 2 inches high at 50 and about 2 inches low at 150...using a Knight Disc..22 inch barrel and 90 grs 777 and 250 Hornady SST...

Only real way to know, is work up a load your gun likes and try at various ranges....Good luck

Knight recommends sighting in 2" high@ 50 yards . Depending on the bullet and the charge you should be dead on @ 100 yards. That comes right from Knights video.

I sighted in my omega with 100 gr pyrodex pellets and a 250 sst for 2" high at 100 yds to go caribou hunting in canada, but i will get it dead on at 100 for deer hunting here in indiana. That is about the longest shot I will have, so it shoots prety flat to there.
