Hunting with muzzleloaders
I am going to Canada to hunt caribou in September and started another thread on this site. Some of the guys that replied brought up a good point. How do you get the black powder/Pyrodex to the hunting camp? Can you take it on the airplanes, or do you have to buy it there? I have never thought about this or heard anybody talk about it before, and this is the first time i have gone. Thanks

RE: Hunting with muzzleloaders
From what I've heard, you cannot take powder into Canada. You will have to buy it there. If it is a guided hunt, you can call the guide and have him procure some powder for you and have it waiting when you arrive.

I doubt that you could carry black powder or synthetic on an airplane anyway. I think the explosive nature of the product would rule that out. I know you can carry regular ammunition if it is in the manufacturers containers, but I think they would draw the line at black powder.

can you mail it to your guide???

RE: Hunting with muzzleloaders
I think explosives are controlled by the Feds and I believe you have to have a special license to transfer it to someone else especially in the mail. Usually there is a Hazmat fee associated with the transfer. Now to go out of the country into another country you have me suspecting that the paperwork alone would confuse a Philadelphia Lawyer.
