Nipples for the TC hakwen 50
 

I am trying to find a spare nipple to buy for my rifle and I though about the hot shot (for number 11 cap). I have seen all sorts of nipples ranging from musket to number 12 etc.. What is the difference between all of these? Size? If I am buying a new nipple is this a time to change from the number 11?
I have had a few problems with the number 11 due to operator (rookie) mistakes but nothing that was the caps fault.

Thompson Center sells their own Stainless Steel Hot Shot nipple that handles the #11 caps and it works great. I bought some at Wal Mart at their end of clearance sale. The one thing I have heard of happening with people that went to the musket cap nipple, is too much power. The result is it recocks the hammer. That can not be good for the rifle in my opinion.

I never found the #11 a problem igniting the charge and the musket caps tend to fall off easier from my tests, so I stay with what works.

Have you tried the CCI # 11 magnum caps. these work a lot better in my T/C greyhawks than the regular #11. I also buy t?c hotshot nipples at walmart.

A million different answers here. I think alot like Roundball on this one... but I slightly prefer the RWS Dynamit Nobel #1075 caps (round red box) for real nice fit & extraordinary fire. Hot shots, Red Hots, Splitfires all work wonderful as nipples. You need the 1/4 X 28 size.

I tried a musket nipple conversion on my Renegade. It was nothing but trouble. Hangfires, you name it. It sucked.

Good old #11 is all you need. A hot shot upgrade is fine, but you don't need it based on my experience.
