260 grain Speer Bullet....before and after
I shoot these 260 grain Speer .451 hollow points with sabots in my Knight Woverine inline and I'm pleased with the results. I use 90 grains FFF Triple seven and could probably lower that to 80 grains for simular results. I took a nice 10 pointer this morning at 70 yards quartered away and I dug the flattened bullet out of his opposite shoulder. I bought these in bulk so I only have 10 cents a piece in them including the sabot. Sure beats paying almost a $1.00 a piece for power belts.

I agree! Speer and Nosler now offer the best value in bulk muzzleloading bullets. Hornady no longer sells the .429s & .451 XTPs larger than 230 grains in bulk boxes of 50 & 100. These bullets load easier than the .430 & .452 XTP bullets. You can only get Hornady XTP bullets in 429 and 451 larger than 230 grains via ML bullet manufacturers Hornady sub-contracts out to.
A few months ago, I've switched my Omega over to the Speer Gold Dot Soft-Point 270s 44/50 in .429. I use Harvester sabots with them & they (bullet & green sabot) hold up extremely well with magnum 777 loads. They also make a hollow-point similar to the XTP. Also... in anticipation of the reduced availabilty of the XTPs in bulk, Speer is now issuing their Gold Dot HP in Mag HPs. Two purchase places below.
