Suggested Load for T/C Encore
A friend of mine and I encountered a problem today shooting his .50 cal Encore. We were shooting 90 and 100 grains of 777 with a 200 grain Shockwave. The petals on the sabots kept breaking off. Suprisingly, the gun grouped well until we moved to 100 yards. Once at 100 yards the groups really opened up.
I'm looking for any suggestions on different load combos you may be using with good results. I also plan to try the same loads in my Omega. Thanks for any help. |
RE: Suggested Load for T/C Encore
You're pushing those sabots too fast/hard. Either drop the charge down to 80gr or move up to the heavier 250s or 300s.

RE: Suggested Load for T/C Encore
The petals of the 40/50 blue Shockwave sabot are designed to break away. I use 110 gr. T7 ffg and a 200 gr. Shockwave and also 105 gr. T7 ffg and a 250 gr. SST/Harvester short sabot combination in my .50 Omega. I have shot 3 shot groups at 100 yds. with each load that easily go less than an inch. I've shot the 110 gr. T7/200 Shockwave load out to 200 yds. and they are still very accurate. I am using the .25 ACP breech plug conversion from Precision Rifle also. A VERY clean bore is a must for accuracy and I swab between shots with Butch's Black Powder Bore Shine, 1 wet patch both sides and 1 dry patch both sides. This works for me!

Yep.... nuthin' wrong with those blue petals coming off. Howver, that's not the case with the green & black ones.... just the blue ones.
