Muzzleloader scope brands...
 

I am purchasing a Knight DISC 50cal rifle and I intend to put a variable mag scope on the rifle. It's primary use will be for hunting in Iowa timber, and as a secondary use I'd like to try some long range shooting for fun 200+ yards. I'm thinking that a 3-9x or a 2-7x scope would suit these applications well. I really don't want to spend a truck load of cash on a scope (<$200), but I would like one that well enough made so as not to shift point-of-impact when the magnification is changed.

What make/model of scope would best fit these requirements?

IMHO, a variable is out of place on a muzzleloader. ANY 2.5X 3X, or 4X scope with reliable adjustments is suitable. As a matter of fact, the old Weaver J-models work well, because they don't add much weight to the gun, and can be mounted very low!!

Keep yore powder dry!!

I have 3x9 var. on all of mine and they work great for me.
2 have 3x9 Nikon's,1 has simmons 3x9,1 has tasco 3x9, and 1 has a 3x9 armssport.The tasco has been on my ruger 77/50 for 12 years or more and still holds up.I use the varibles because my eyes are not what
they used to be.

My T/C has a Simmons "Pro 50" 3X9 on it.I use it in woods only(low light)strictly for the benifit of the 50 objective.Its great for soakin up light in the woods at dawn and dusk at low power.I paid under $200.

drift, I've got the same ML you're going to buy. It's a Knight Magnum DISC .50 cal. synthetic/stainless. I put a Leupold VXII 2-7x33 on it and the results are incredible. I also used the Leupold QR rings and bases so I can take the scope off for cleaning; it does return to zero! I purchased mine through The Optic Zone. The owner, Jon, is extremely helpful and I urge you to check their website out and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Guys, while we are on the topic, what Leupold bases would you use for a Knight LK-93? For Quick release that is?

If anyone is interested, I went to Leupolds website, here is the combo they recommend for the Knight Wolverines if you want the QR setup. I just mounted mine using a Kwikee setup, but I think this QR is just what the doctor ordered so I can clean this thing just like before with soap and water without getting the scope all wet.

i borrowed an original disc last year and it had a simmons 1.5-5X on it. it worked great. i am going to put a similar one on mine new disc extreme. it was great in the iowa timber, on the low setting target aquisition was fast
