I would think that would depend on what you want to do with the rifle. Are you going to target shoot only? Hunt? If your hunting what are you hunting for? Since this is a black powder forum, I would think the .50 caliber with the 1:28 twist would do you fine for all your black powder hunting needs... Do they make something in black powder other then a .50 caliber with 1:28 twist?

The .50 caliber 1:28 twist would do you fine for black powder hunting. The 30-06 would make a great centerfire barrel....
