Traditions Inline Pistols

Anybody have luck finding a accurate load from these pistols? I can shoot patched balls ok with 60gr of pyrodex. My sabots don't fly well.

hey, should have just asked me ive got one and so does a buddy of mine we both have the Buckhunter Pro .50 cal. In-Line Pistol , we figured out a patched roundball with 50 to 60 grains pyrodex shoots great but you have already figured that out, also a 245 grain power belt with no less then 60 grains under it works good. pretty much anything 300 grains and under works the best, If i remember correctly its been along time since i shot it it has a 80 grain charge capacity but most loads worked the best with 60 to 70 grains. hope that helps

just had a thought I might dig it out and try some bullets i threw together to try in my rifle. as accurate as wad cutters seem to be in centerfire guns i put togther saboted 245 grain 44 cal lead semi wadcutters. I'm gonna try them out monday or tuesday ill let you know how they do in my buckhunter.

I still don't have good luck, I tried 50gr of pyrodex FF this weekend with roundballs. Still only 4" or more at 25 yards. I might try the powerbelts. The sight doesn't have much adjustment. Traditions said to sent it back and they would take care of the sights. Thanks for the input. Funny, I called traditions when I first got it and they said roundballs, now different guy said roundballs are bad and to use saboted 240gr XTP with 50 to 60gr. 70 and 80 gr is really bad.

I had time today to hit the range, and on the way i stopped and picked up a box of Hornady 200 grain HP/XTP 44 cal, with the thought maybe those 245 grain wadcutters may not do very good in the buck hunter. I was thinkin if you could increase the velocity or use a lighter bullet it would be easier to stablize the bullet. the wadcutters worked awesome in my rifle shot three consecutive groups at 100 yards all around 2 inches the best group was 1 and 1/2 inch and the wurst was 2 and 1/2 inch. but the buck hunter on the otherhand at 25 yards with the saboted wadcutter and 60 grains pyrodex was horrible I couldnt for the life of me even backing it off to 50 grains it would not group better then 5 inches. I then tried the 200 grain 44 cal HP/XTP's in the same sabots i was using the wadcutters in by the way the sabots were Hornady 50 cal #6750 green .50/.44 (.430) sabots, the 200 grainers worked good with 50 grains the best group was 2 inches then I moved the charge up to 60 the best group was 3 holes touching. I then tried it with a 70 grain charge had what would have been a 2 inch group but had 1 flyer, then tried again and had a little over a 2 inch group. im thinkin these buck hunters do the best with a moderate charge and lighter bullets, it shot the best today ever since i bought it 2 years ago. untill today I thought a 2 inch group was the best I would ever get at 25 yards.

Yeah i know the sights have hardly any adjustment to get a little more elevation I ended up grinding down the front blade a bit.

Iv'e been looking at the BuckhunterPro Nickle barrel with the 14.5 inch barrel and muzzle break. What length are you shooting?
