Hornady SST

Has any body tried these in 250 gr for whitetail? How did they perform? Any body shoot with 3 pellets or 150 gr? I am switching from the Barnes expanders, They worked well but I think the SST will shoot much flatter. Thanks Bill

Last year I killed 8 deer with Hornady's 250gr. SST's out of an Encore using 130gr. of Pyrodex. Three of them were shot at 200+yd. They will be in my rifle this year.

I've not tried them yet on an animal, however a fellow I know from another forum (and his wife) has taken 19 animals with them. 19 out of the same package of 20! He's hoping to kill an animal with the last one soon!

PS. I am using a Disc rifle..
I've tried them in my Disc Extreme (same gun basically with just a few differences) and they shot well. I was using up some 777 pellets I had bought for my wife to use and they shot better with 150 gr. As soon as I have the time, I'll head back to the range with them and my powder measurer and see if I can match the velocity with loose 777 . I got 2183 fps with that loading. I also shot a good group with that load. It measured a 1/2" at 50 yds. I know it's not the same as a hundred yd group, but if a bullet won't shoot at fifty, it sure ain't gonna shoot at a hundred! Besides, I wasn't sure if it'd even hit the paper at 100. [&o] As it was I was barely on at 50. Right now the current load that rifle is sighted in for get's 1 1/2 at 100 yds. Soon as I shoot those bullets up, I'm switching to SST's provided I can match the pellet load for accuracy.
