Shockwaves?
Was picking up some supplies and noticed a shipment of TC Shockwaves 300gr. Is this the Hornady SST repacked? I have tried to get the SST's but have been unsuccessful, when I saw these I thought man those sure look like the SST!
Has anybody used them how to the fly and/or perform? What load are you using? Thanks |
RE: Shockwaves?
I think you mean TC shockwave not Knight. They are the same as the SST,packaged and made for TC.They are great,I shoot the 250 gr.SST out of my Omega and they are awsome;)

RE: Shockwaves?
dvd, yeap error on my part yes TC Shockwaves. Only ones they had were 200 and 300 gr versions for 50 cal. I may have to pick up some 300's and give them a whirl.
What load combo are you using? |
RE: Shockwaves?
Last year I tryed 200gr ,250 gr and the 300 gr .the 250 and 300 gr grouped great ,I now shoot 250 s. IMO stay away from the 200 gr every one I know that tryed them hated them ,at 100 yd I got 6-8" patterns , 250 gr group just over 2" at 200 yds

RE: Shockwaves?
I've shot both the 250 gr. Shockwaves and 250 gr SST's. The shockwaves wouldn't shoot in my Knight Extreme, but would shoot well in my Omega. The SST's are way to hard to load in my Omega, but shoot extremely well in my Extreme. The bullets themselves are the same, but the sabots are different. There's actually a weight difference in the sabots. The SST sabots being heavier.

RE: Shockwaves?
Skeeter 7mm, I use the 250 gr.sst and 2 50 gr. 777 pellets.Very accurate killed 5 deer with them last year(they give doe tags out here in NY like candy on halloween)excellent performance, shots ranged from 30yds to 125 yards.I plan on working some more with the load,I now have some 30 gr. pellets as well as shooting loose 777 2f,but I have been working on my elk load for up coming hunt in Co.this Sept. 95gr.777 2f and 405 gr.powerbelt also excellent accuracy.Good luck

RE: Shockwaves?
I use the sst (shockwaves) in all my muzzleloaders. They work great on deer and shoot very accurately. This is a pic of a 6-shot group I shot last year @100 yds using 195 barnes200 SW and SST and even a 250 gr SW.Shot with my 50 cal encore. Shot a 1/2 in group @200 yds last week in my savage and 250 gr SWaves.

RE: Shockwaves?
Thanks guys for the info. I will be giving them a go behind some FFG T7. I finally located some 250Gr SST's - placed the order today, should be here in a week or so. Been trying to get my hands on this bullet and now feel like a kid at Christmas...hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a socks and underwear present!
Herman impressive groups are you shooting Smokeless in the Savage or subs? |
RE: Shockwaves?
That was with smokless ,I had another savage when they first came out ,and tried cleanshot and pyro in it and it would drive tacks @100 yds, sold it to my brother and last year he was putting them in the same hole at 50 yds, getting ready for the muzzleloader season(only time he picks up a gun is week before the season). He took 3 deer with it last year.
I didn't get to try my savage last year because I didn't see one when I was carring it,but did take a large 8 pointer using the 195 barnes and a doe with the 200 sst with my encore. The barnes I won't use again because it didn't open up but the sst shot the doe @45 yds behind the shoulder complete pass through and splattered blood on the trees 10 ft behind the deer. Hope the sst shoot good for you I use them in several of my reg rifles. |
RE: Shockwaves?
The shockwaves work real good in my Black Diamond XR also. That is some real impressive shooting there herman. If you can hold a group like that nothing is safe even out to 200 yards.
