is $489 a good price for the thumb hole model?

Yep... cheapest I found was $485 at ultout.com. Super nice rifle!!!!

Traditions has a Champion 2000 thumbhole model that has been discontinued. The warehouse showroom in Old Saybrook, CT has a few leftovers for about $289 they listed for around $500. These are real nice, In May I stopped by the show room, saw them and wound up impulse buying one. They have a highly grained blond stock and a beaver tail front wood piece. If you are really interested I will send a picture to you. You can call the showroom to negotiate a deal. 860 388 4657 they also have around half their models on scratch and dent sales from %30 - %50 off.. They are real friendly and will talk on the phone about what is available. I call every so often to check on the Buckmaster 14” inline pistol but haven’t found a second yet. Lots of luck Phil

I thought I got a good deal at $519.00 a couple weeks ago.
I would jump all over that price.
