Poll Question

Who do you think is the best all around black powder arms manufacturer? Things to consider: Price, reliability, style, customer service, variety, and just about anything else you can think of!

Now don't get nasty with each other. I saw a similar poll on one of the bow hunting sites, and it was perfectly civil. :)

RE: Poll Question

Actually most of the major companies are great. Knight, CVA, Traditions, and Thompson Center are all top notch. I have had excellent experiences with Thompson Center Arms. I have owned a couple of their rifles and there quality is fantastic. They are also a leader in the industry with new ideas. Their Customer Service is excellent and they are willing to go that little extra to make the person happy. I think they would be my choice.

My vote would be T/C (thompson Center) They have great customer service and product support.

RE: Poll Question

Read the most satisfied results coming from Thompson Center & Knight ML owners.... myself included. I'm about to find out how well T/C responds to a broken lock on my T/C Renegade. As usual, I'm expecting it to get fixed for free.

RE: Poll Question

T/C - But then again, I've owned only T/C. They will fix or replace anything, 99.9% of the time for no charge. I used to live down the road from their plant in NH. That was handy, and you had to be silly not to use T/C, just because it was so easy to get a quick fix. Saying that, I would also say that it was not often that things broke. They will talk to you about any problem over the phone and take the time to get you straight. I think their quality is better than CVA and the like. Can't say anything about Knight.

RE: Poll Question

Not a popular topic, I guess. Well, my vote is for T/C. Knocks against them are price and lack of selection (hand guns). But their quality and customer service more than make up for it. They do have a good selection in terms of inline vs. traditional (cap and flint), also kits. Plus, they produce the innovative Omega and Contender/Encore.

I'm a knight man myself, but I think that TC is right up there with them. I would never turn down a free on, that is for sure

RE: Poll Question

This is a hard question. I can't say who is the best.I've dealt with T/C and Knight. Both are top notch in their Customer Service and quality.Never dealing with Ruger in the BP dept. I would imagine I would receive the same kind of service from the BP dept as I have from the regular firearms dept..I contacted CVA once about a manual and received fast service.Thankfully of all the ones mentioned I've had good service from all of them.I would say T/C has a slight edge but a very slight one if any.
