Thompson Omega primer cap ?

Does the Omega require a tool to use everytime to install the 209 primer?

If yes or no; can you explain why. I am considering an Omega but if it requires a tool; I would consider this a disadvantage over an Encore.

Thanks.

A straight line capper for 209s works very well for any 209 rifle I've encountered. If you scope either the Omega or the Encore, a capper is well worth the few dollars it costs.

Whether required would depend upon the arrangement of your scope and your own dexterity. I own Encores and have owned Omegas but always have used the capper.

My Omega is scoped, and I have no problem putting in a fresh primer or removing a fired primer without the tool.

I have mine scoped & no problems putting on or taking off primers by hand.

Same here, scoped Omega - no problems installing or removing a 209 primer with fingers.
