TC Firestorm or Traditions PA Pellet Flintlock??

Trying to decide which flintlock to purchase for the late season here in PA?? Narrowed it down to the TC Firestorm or Traditions PA Pellet Flintlock. I have shot the Firestorm before but never the Traditions. Both guns seem so similiar with the composite stock, 1/48th twist barrel, fiber optic sites, removable breach plug, quality lock and frizzen. The firstorm is almost twice the price though, Ouch!

Maybe there is something I'm missing..... How tight a group will these guns shoot out at 50 and 100 yards with diffeent loads and bullets? I have been told both guns like a patch and a roundball or shorter sabots or conicals. Powerbelts can be good but not on a clean barrel.

Any info greatly appreciated. I need to go buy my gun soon.

RE: TC Firestorm or Traditions PA Pellet Flintlock??

Both guns are good quality. If money was not the sole reason for the choice, I would go with the Thompson Center. 1-48 twist will shoot round balls real well. If round ball were going to be the sole projectile you would use, I would go to the .54 caliber. The 1-48 will also shoot conicals real well too. I have four sidelock rifles but no flinters. I never wanted to try and master the skill they take. My friends who do shoot them always say, get a good quality lock. The better the lock the better the ignition. Rifles that have poor locks end up being a real headache. Which ever rifle you choose, good luck and welcome to the world of black powder. It will hook you and make the sport of hunting seem brand new.....
