Guess I don't understand why some feel the need to prove their manhood and show their disregard for money with each pull of the trigger. If I can do the same job with 70-80 grains of loose powder and do so without inflicting pain and suffering to myself, that's what I will do. And my wallet will thank me.

I guess I don't mind shooting a magnum load. I costs me maybe 10-30 cents extra per shot depending on which powder I use. Does the magnum load kick more than fewer grains? Why sure it does. But, I will tell you I don't understand why people say it kicks so bad. In my opionion, it kicks less than a shotgun shooting slugs and it surely kicks less than a magnum calibur high powered rifle. It gives me more knock down power on all shots and especially on the longer shots and it allows me to take the longer shot. While I try to get them in close and take the short distance shot, I am confident that if all conditions are right, I can take the long shot. The gun will do the job, the PR bullet will do the job and have the energy to do it and I will be munching on backstraps at the conclusion of the hunt.

The MOST accurate load I ever fired from a muzzleloader was a .500" round ball, .015" patch, and 90 grains of DuPont FFg in a slow-twist .50-caliber Bill Large barrel. On a calm day, this load would shoot five shots into 1" or slightly less at 100 yards. In my muzzleloaders, the max. magnum loads are generally less accurate than wht the gun is capable of with less powder!! But this is not always true of modern weapons!!

Actually, until we are talking calibers for African dangerous game, a shotgun firing slugs kicks MORE than a high-powered rifle...... A LOT more!!
