Congratulations! I purchased one last week too. Im shooting it for the first time this weekend. I am new to ML but between what people have been kindly enough to say here and things I have ready on line they shoot Pyrodex pellets and Powerbelt .295 grain well. I Have been asking the same question and did a little research. Thats what came up he most. Ill let you know how they work when I go out. Good luck!

P.S what A nice gun!

RE: I bought an Omega last night!

Here' s the story on the Renegade: It' s a buautiful .54 cal. percussion rifle that I bought as a teenager in the late ' 80' s. The last time that I cleaned it, a brush broke off at the breach end.:(
I went to college, quit hunting and now, 13 years later, I want to hunt again! I managed to get the brush out, but it' s anybody' s guess what kind of damage has occurred. I thought about buying a new barrel, and I wanted a scope too. But instead, I decided spend the money on a new inline gun.
From what I can tell, new Renegades sell for $400 (correct me if I' m wrong). So, take off $175 for a new barrel, $50 because it is used and everyone likes a deal, then I guess I would take $175 for the gun, or $190 for the gun with about 50 round balls, 30 maxiballs, some caps, and a capping tool thrown in.

If I' m way out of line in my logic here, please let me know so if I sell it locally, an honest deal gets done:)

etothepii, T/C has a lifetime warranty.Send your Renegade back to T/C. Chances are if the barrel is bad they will replace it at N/C.Call them they might just want the barrel and hooked breech sent back.T' C has the best warranty I have ever found. If indeed your barrel is bad 175.00 is steep.I had two stocks crack. The first one was close to 25 years old. T/C replaced the complete gun less the ramrod and barrel.New lock, stock with all the hardware.A year later going to fire it for the first time I noticed the new stock was cracked again. This time I sent the complete rifle back instead of just the cracked stock. In no time I had my newly stocked rifle back. All it costed me was the shipping to T/C' s facility in Rochester NH.
