Bass Pro and Cabelas has the Pyrodex RS powder in stock in La Vista near you . They have limited stock so get your butt down there LOL https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/pyrodex-gunpowder |
just a bit of maybe useless or helpful info, decades ago when those (pellets) were introduced I tried them in my 62 caliber hawken
now they never make many things for a 62 caliber hawken so you learn to be creative. I carried 2 pellets and about 20 grains of 3f black powder in a plastic cigar tube, when I opened the tubes cap I had a percussion primer sitting on a cosmetic cotton ball, the 20 grains of 3f was loose around the pellets , Id shake the tube into my rifle muzzle, with a finger partly over the mouth of the cigar tube thus the powder went down the bore , first then moving the finger allowed the pellets to follow down the bore, it made no difference, the powder loaded with most of the pellets following I found if I dropped a cap full of 3F black powder down the bore and then 2 pellets followed, down the bore with a cosmetic cotton ball followed by a dab of grease and by a patched ball, I got really good and consistent results 3" 100 yard bench rest groups were common, the loose powder seems to help consistent burns using the pyrodex pellets BTW IN THEORY each pellet has the same power potential as about 50 grains of 2f black powder ![]() I later found these, water proof tubes, I super glue one end on the tubes and carry a dozen in the possibles bag 6" clear tubes and end caps are available https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail...-Tubes-3-4-x-6 https://www.uline.com/BL_3702/Clear-Tube-End-Caps and yes a 62 caliber patched round ball, so loaded , is 100% lethal to both mule deer and elk! well at least out to about 140 yards (thats as far as Ive tried it) https://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categ...2/3/LEE-600-DC as always precise shot placement and a knowledge of the games anatomy MATTERS ![]() |
I've personally used .45 cal pellets in a .50 cal. As mentioned they are safe but will change point of impact due to seating of the bullet changing.
