inline misfires
tc triumph has not fired many times in the field but never at the range. when misfires just clicks, should it make a different noise? I fire a primer prior to loading federal 209s
could this be fouling the breech? Really frustrating that i cant figure this out. |
I'm thinking a moisture problem Dies it fire with a 2nd cap or primer?

You're saying it just clicks. Do the primer is not going off?

My first thought would be to make sure you a snapping the action closed. this insures that you are going into battery.
have you cleaned the BP lately by hand drilling the flash channel out.? I should have asked, after a misfire if you pull the primer out does it have a firing pin dimple in the primer? One additional question are you shooting BH=209? |
dimpled
yes it has a dimple, try several more primers with same result. just clicks..
found breech plug did have fouling but i cleaned it before all of this episode but did fire a few primers off before loading, this is how i was taught over the years, could that build up carbon in bp? |
That helps.
it's a seating issue of the primer in the breech pocket. You need a shim, a different breech plug or try a different brand of primer. And the reason you were asked what type of powder you were using. You need a different flame channel in the breech plug to ignite BH209. Been down this road myself. Forgot to add. Deep clean the firing pin. If you have blow back that could be dirty or damaged? JW |
was told that bhp was fine on a tc triumph and does work on the range. had same problem with t7 powder pellets. thats why i tried the bh 209 and liked that powder much more.

i have never looked at 1 that did go off for sure. These are spent primers, notice how the nose of the primer is a black hole - those primers ignited. |
