New Accurate mold

I had ordered my 340 gr I-bullet mold from Accurate about 3 weeks ago and was surprised to see it came in on Thurs. I smoked it up and put it on a pair of Lyman handles. Yesterday I melted a batch of lead, heated up the mold and lubed the mold and started casting some bullets.
Honestly I was having one heck of a time getting the cavity nearest the handles to fill properly. The other cavity was casting beautiful bullets right from the get go. But the rear would only fill about 1/2 way and when it did fill all the way the bullet bases were rounded even with a good sized overfill.
It took quite a while to figure out that the mold required a very slow pour from my bottom pour pot. Once I got that figured out I was casting 2 bullets at a time with no wrinkles, voids or rounded bases. Speaking of the bases they were nice and flush. Weights were within 1 gr of each other except for 3 of the 100 or so cast. As far as dimensions, I ordered the mold to cast .452" +.002" -.000" and taking a sample the bullets measured (with a caliper and micrometer) just a tad over .452".

Clem, that's about what mine came out as well. When I size them with the .452 sizing die they feel like they are hardly being sized. Some of my older White rifles and my GM LRH bbl prefer bullets sized with the .451 die.

This would be the one HC. The best way to order from Tom is to order the mold .001" larger than you need and have it made with a plus tolerance. (i.e.: If you want a finished bullet after lubing and sizing that measures .451" then order a mold .452" +.002"/-.000")

That's what I did and would do. You can always make the bullet smaller but not larger.
