What's your Go to Black Powder

I haven't tried that many brands of Black powder and I'm getting low.

So what is your favorite Black powder and why?*
I'm not looking for BP Substitutes. I've got 2. Cant use them for this rifle.

Thanks
JW

I like to by American when I can so it is Goex for me or Old Enysford (made by Goex). There are cheaper BPs on the market, but Goex has always worked for me, and all my muzzleloaders have loads that I worked up using Goex, so I don't want to change.

Goex FFg for .50 and up and Goex FFFg for my .45
Forgot to add the why! Because its readily available here and like the previous post I have all my sidelocks sighted in using it.

Swiss Null B is considered to be the fastest priming powder.
There is Swiss 4F that's sold by the lb., and then there's Null B which is sold in a 1/2 lb. container.
It's reputed to be made from the factory floor sweepings which makes it super fine and super fast.

I primarily hunt with and shoot front loaders and have for the last 40 years or so. The last 25+ years have been mainly with Swiss going down the tube. The main reason is it's consistency. Goex just never did even stay in the game when it came to consistency until they came out with the Olde Enysford which I just tested again a few weeks ago. It's actually the closest to Swiss as I have seen but it doesn't beat it. But according to where you live, Swiss can be a bit tough to find.

Thanks for that review.

From my past reading I ordered 2f Goex and 2f Old Edsford as Graf and sons had it in stock.

I almost bought 2f Swiss too.

I have 2 Hawkens and then my Sharps I need to finally shoot.

I'll let you know my outcome.

Swiss 2F has outperformed EVERYTHING Else i have tried, No Comparison.

I almost bought Swiss.

I did try Pyrodex RS which caused hangfires.
I'm awaiting my Grafs Goex and Old Ensford to come.
I used Skockeys Gold 2F.
No problem the Sharps 54 fired everytime and I got it dialed in at 25 yds.
I need to get to 50.

Goex FFF
Want to try Swiss FF. I think I finally found a local place about 50 miles away that sells Swiss.

Well I tried 2 brands today in that IAB Sharps 54.
Old Eynsford
And Goex both in FFG.

OLD Enysford grain consistency seemed finer than Goex.
I had some misfires.

Goex worked ok.
I hit the target at 50 yards and was pleased with my groupings.
But then I fiddled around, lost my zero and struggled a bit.
I think the Sharps itself got dirty and I lost accuracy.
But it was good practice.
Towards the end I had some misfires.
I took the cap off.
Waited to make sure it wasn't a hangfire. And when I opened the breech some powder had been burnt.
But no resulting bang.
There isn't any real gas seal.
I drop my conical in. Add my 80 grains of powder close my breech, cap and fire.
The conical is lubed.

But towards the end (shot about 20 times) I think I was running g into fouling of the nipple spark region.
So I quit.
I did take one shot using the top bead on my globe front site. Didnt drop as far as I thought it would.
I fo need more practice with it though.

My plan is to shoot my bear over a bait pile at 40 yards.
That should be attainable.
