Lewis' Grease groove bullets
Lewis’ grease groove bullet . 80 gr powder , 50 cal felt wad triple 7 primer knight Ultralight 1:20 twist. 300 yard gong. Wind was worse than I thought as I was way left on the gong. I didn’t realize how windy it was til I watched the video and saw the grass blowing. The ultralight I have is close to a true .450 or maybe .4505 as I sized the bullet to .4496 for a firm but slip fit . I had a hard time trying to get this video stuff to work . Not to good in that area. Camera was my Nikon p900 with a 60x zoom . I didn’t chrono the bullet do it was just a wild guess . I was actually worried as the hole on the 100 yard target looked weird but it hit paper at 200 and then the gong but I want to shoot through some cardboard and see what the hole looks like. I think it might have just been the paper target that caused the tear in the hole |

This is the weird tear I was talking about . These two shots were when I was sighting in the scope as I just put a Nikon omega on it |

This is the weird tear I was talking about ………... IMO its the paper itself that tears that way. Stuck to a backer that likely wouldn't happen. Thick targets show better holes without tears I think. |
The target is stapled to a pallet. I think it right over the gap between boards of the pallet. I will use a sold backer next time out . Besides if it wasn’t shooting good it sure wouldn’t have hit the gong I don’t think |
I agree. The bullet hole looks nice and uniform where it enters the target. Probably had the paper lined up on a gap like you thought. Nice shooting. Dang it if I aint going to have to get a new Knight!
