Still looking at bullets for my Knight 50 cal Wolverine. That said, has anyone had experience with any of the saboted lead bullets out of muzzleloaders on deer? I am shooting 100 gr of pyrodex pellets.

NoExcuses Bullets now sells a variety of somewhat affordable lead bullets in sabots. The speed of 2 Pyro pellets should be pretty close but you can do so much better dialing in a load by using loose powder. Around $33/50 with sabots. Weights from 250-400gr are available.
Just like any bullet they can surely work. You just need to shoot them within a velocity range that they perform well and retain adequate energy for a ethical kill.

A friend deer hunts with the TC Cheap Shot lead bullets and sabots. Bought two packages for him this morning on sale at Wal Mart . Cost was $6.00 for a package of 20.

We are not what you may call experts but we use the TC Cheap shots also . By we I mean 5 of us and have taken many deer with them in the last few years ! The bullets are used in 50 cal Wolf inlines and Lyman Deer stalker flintlocks .
