Scope problem with CVA Firebolt
 

I have a minor problem with my CVA Firebolt in-line 50 calibur scope. I was thoroughly cleaning the gun this past weekend when I noticed how lose the scope was. Apparently the scope mounts on the rifle were loose as well. I tighten the one but the other would not tighten all the way down. I added a washer which enabled me to tighten it down all the way. I than mounted the scope but noticed that the scope would still move since I could not tighten anymore the scope mount between the scope and the mount.

Does anyone have an idea as to how I could tighten this down so it won' t move? I have a 30-06 which I just put a new scope on as well so I don' t have an issue with moving scopes.

Sounds to me the screws your using are bottoming out and not allowing you to tighten them, try a slightly shorter screw.

It' s not the screw that attachs directly to the rifle that are loose, but the part on the scope mount that goes around the base mount that is loose. There are 1 screw per mount that goes in the slot on the mount base. I have tighten this screw but the scope still moves slightly.

The only reason I can think of why it would do that Tom is the rings aren' t gripping the scope tube properly.If the rings are the split half type you can lap the rings in for a better fit,or buy new rings.
