Default Looking for a new Barrel

I have a 54 cal Renegade that I purchased new in the 1980s for elk hunting. I went a few times and tried to find a good accurate load for it. I haven't fired the fire in almost 20 years. Since purchasing the rifle, 54 cal bullets, supplies etc. has been scarce because everyone is using 50 cal. around here. I am thinking of swapping my barrel out for a 50 cal. Can it be done? What barrels other than a used 50 cal Renegade can be used? Will a Hawken barrel fit the Renegade? Are there aftermarket barrels available?

While I have had the rifle for years, I'm still a newbie.

Default Renegade bbl

I would look at GunBroker Web Site. I just found a 45cal bbl for my Renegade. But I see 50 cal bbl there often.

Renegade barrels are one inch across the flats, so a Hawkin barrel will not fit unless it is a .54 Hawkin barrel, they are 1" flats. Any drop in barrel made by Green Mountain barrel Co. will fit if they are one inch across the flats. I have a GM .45 barrel for mine, had to do a little fitting, but it works well now.
I second what Ed said about GunBroker, or even Ebay, but beware of what you buy on both sites!

A 7/8 barrel will work in a one inch barrel channel gun usually with no problem

Like John said, you can buy a 15/16" tang and barrel and fit it to your stock without a problem. And too you can bed them to the stock with some Accuglass or epoxy.
Another option is to send your barrel to Bob Hoyt in Fairfield PA and have him put a liner in it and bore it out to .50 cal.
But IMO I'd deep the .54.
