ok guys bear with me here. Im switching from 777 pellets to BH209 this deer season for several reasons. Nobody I know uses loose powder so i have a few questions. 1) after a hunt how do u get the loose powder out of ur muzzleloader without it makin a huge mess? 2) what do yall carry ur loose powder in when ur in the woods? How do u prevent moisture from gettin in it and how do u get the loose powder accurately down the barrel? Any pix of what u use or a url to a website wud be awesome. Sorry for the questions. Im just new to this whole BH world. |
My rifle is left loaded if it hasn't been fired. If it has been fired, and reloaded, i shoot it the same day, before i leave the sticks; clean it at home, and reload it for the next day, or days. Have never had a problem leaving a clean rifle loaded for weeks, but once the powder is burned, it has rusted the barrel, if not cleaned.

Well FlaBoy BH209 is basically non-hydgroscopic so the likeliness of it collecting moisture in your rifle is negligible. IMO removing any loose powder from a muzzy will create a mess no matter what kind you use. And especially an inline if you remove the breech plug and push it out though the back. My suggestion in getting it out the barrel is to shoot it off. Cleaning the breech threads would be a chore. Using Lane's tubes or similar is the best way to carry loose powder. You're also going to need a powder measure.
Loose powder is definitely the way to go. Pellets are convenient but no where near the versatility of loose. This is the measure I use: |
Thanks yall. I will buy sum tubes to carry it and sounds like its alot easier to fire off the gun after a week of hunting than it is tryin to remove loose powder |

Read teh directions for installing. You have to torque it down using the tool to seat it to your breech. From then on finger tight is tight enough.
