Sweet!! What bullet are you using? Those are some nasty exit holes for sure...

idahoron 08-15-2017 05:33 PM

I am also interested in what bullet you used.

idahoron 08-17-2017 08:58 PM

I am also quite interested in how you use a scope on a Muzzleloader hunt. Those are only used if the hunter is unable to see. Just curious.

MountainDevil54 08-17-2017 10:10 PM

good video camera. Very smooth and crisp. Did not like the poor shooting. Obviously it was way out of the shooters range, especially if he wasn't using the shooting sticks the other guys had. Less music, more action.

If thats the first video, very well put together.

looks like centerfire bullet performance. :D maybe its an AK47 30-06 muzzleloader bullet:lolabove::lolabove:

hunters_life 08-20-2017 09:24 AM

295gr Powerbelt according to the comments section. Looks like both shots blew up. Didn't see any sign of entrance on the other side, no blood on the other side at all. 2 massive holes on one side. And some people around here call that a good performing bullet. That's pretty sad right there.

TN Lone Wolf 08-20-2017 10:39 AM

Great video! What camera were you using?

Hard for me to believe a powerbelt could do that damage. I have killed four whitetails with them an none exited or did damage like that!
One 8 point had to be shot twice..high shoulder shot..won't be using anymore!

hunters_life 08-20-2017 02:06 PM

I don't believe those were exit wounds toytruck. I'm fairly sure those were entrance wounds with the bullet blowing all to deleted by JW. pieces!
That is the key problem that the advertisers tend to not tell you about or flat out lie about. Extremely poor penetration and they blow up just like they did on that speed goat. If the boy had hit the shoulder he would have just blown the poor things leg off. How anyone with a sense of humanity in them could use those bullets is beyond me.

Idaholewis 08-21-2017 04:44 AM

Definitely not a bullet i would hunt with, that one does exactly the opposite of what i look for in a bullet. I want a bullet to mushroom out good, hold together, and drive through. I hunt to eat the Game that i shoot, using a Grenade type bullet like the performance of the one in this video pretty much defeats that purpose

MountainDevil54 08-21-2017 08:24 AM

Does that mean a Lehigh bullet is out for you as well?

hunters_life 08-21-2017 11:40 AM

There you go again MountainDevil54, showing us exactly how much you don't know. The Lehigh and Bloodline bullets do not do that. They fracture after penetrating the hide and bone. And only shed a small portion of their mass, around 10-15%, with razor sharp petals damaging internal organs. They don't blow up on entry like the powerbelt line of fishing sinkers do. And before you go blasting the picture GM54-120 posted, that was a very high shoulder shot with a fairly small and fast bullet. Pretty much anything at that speed and that high up on the deer would have created that damage. I've seen exactly what the 220gr Lehigh CF's do to big bodied whitetails both at closer ranges, 40 yards, and long range, 211 yards. Very little meat damage and utter destruction of internal organs. Keep trying though MountainDevil54. You might get something right one day.

Please clear this up for us Ak473006, are we looking at entrance wounds or exit wounds?

Slowburn 08-21-2017 12:12 PM

Fellers that boy didn't kill that goat and if he did he didn't find it until it was to late. No fresh blood and both wounds look like decay was already starting. The rear hole is cut and no bullet made that clean cut. Just my opinion.

Semisane 08-21-2017 12:28 PM

I'm not so sure of that Slowburn. There appears to be a head movement of the animal just as they approach it. There are no interruptions in the video from that point on. The animal is lying in a pool of blood as it's turned over, again with no video interruptions.

Exactly.

Fragment-grenades... Fragment grenade. ..

Funny how those two words go together.

Controlled fragment grenade.

hunters_life 08-21-2017 05:48 PM

Nice pictures. Have to give the boy props on that. He's fairly good with a camera. Too bad he doesn't know an ill performing bullet from a good one. Or really anything about terminal ballistics.

MountainDevil54 08-21-2017 07:39 PM

If you enjoyed the pictures, wait till you see video footage from the bear hunt! No bear, but a cool arse falcon and elk.

hunters_life 08-22-2017 12:55 PM

Love nature films and photography. Hunting for me has never been about the kill. It's always been about getting deleted by JW away from everything and everyone. Yeah I love the meat and I in no way will pass on a shot on a nice steak, roast, and burger animal but it's more about being out in the fresh air and noone yapping in deleted by JW ear about work and bills.

That says a lot. I have a couple bird feeders I pack to the stand so I can share my time there with chickadees and nuthatches. lol I carry the phone but its turned off. I have a small Walkman that I'll turn on for Sunday football games while wearing the earbuds. Basically I love the fall weather and love a little snow flurry action on a day or two, but I enjoy still hunting with a real light drizzle. I've shot several nice bucks laying down catching some snooze time when light snow or drizzle is falling.

Up here the colors are gone by the opener, but the fall season is one of wonder and I love it, deer or no deer.

Didn't notice that pic. Let me guess, shoulder absolutely blown all to hell? Maybe half the bullet made it to the vitals? If that?

Semisane 08-22-2017 07:01 PM

Guys, the points have been made. No need to beat them to death, or be disagreeable.

MountainDevil54 08-22-2017 07:06 PM

That was testing a new bullet to the extreme. I made the post on here I'm sure. You seem to be forgetful lately ron.

And year after year, our family uses them for hunting.

If you don't like em, don't use em. Simple as that.

You're very lucky the moderators on here do their job poorly. You and Ron both have earned yourselves a ban without a doubt lol.

I've got the old man set up with powerbelt this year friend. My brother and I will be the ones packing out the elk and deer.

As far as being full of crap. Aren't you the one that goes on hand held hunts and pays someone to hold your hand and point out the animals? Probably hunt bears over piles of trash too :D

Idaholewis 08-23-2017 08:27 AM

Look at all these trolls! Personal attacks and everything! Get your good byes in guys. Three members have 3-4 threads of insults, personal attacks. They'll be banned soon :D

You fellows need to grow up. Stalker city on here lmao

hunters_life 08-23-2017 10:25 AM

Hand held hunts? I've used a guide a few times in some parts of Canada and BC because it was the law not because I needed hand holding. I do drop in hunts in Alaska MountainDevil54 all by my little old lonesome. If I did use a guide it would be because I was in unfamiliar territory and, unlike some folks, I have the intelligence to use the best resources available. Keep trying to throw insults though little fella. They are good for a laugh. Hope your Dad connects with a monster this year. Make sure he stays off the shoulder with that crap bullet though. He looks to be a little bit too old to be on a long track on a wounded Elk.

MountainDevil54 08-23-2017 11:59 AM

Hes hunting a cow, along with my brother.

And yes we are.

MountainDevil54 08-23-2017 12:41 PM

What I am doing? Idahorod started all of this on another thread.. excuse me.. 2 other threads. They are personally attacking me for mentioning it was a waste of meat to shoulder shoot an elk.

You need to read through the threads TN. Im the clear victim here.

Idahorod is low enough to pick on an 89 year old man on a traditional forum, thats how low he goes.

JW 08-23-2017 05:59 PM

Ok Boys enough! You are ruining one of the best forums here.

I stepped aside as cayugad came on. I haven't read too many posts here but what I see is terrible.

Several have been given a time out card. Some longer than others.

I also ask each of you watch your language as we have young readers that come here. Just because you are up in age does not mean you can say exactly like it is. Cursive language will not be tolerated.
