removing lead fouling
#1

OK guys, since I've been using big full bore conicals in my .45 caplock I've noticed that while swabbing between shots I'm picking up an occasional sliver of lead on the patch.
What do you guys recommend for removing lead before I get a buildup that would be harder to remove.
I've read that ChoreBoy copper scrubbing pads work good. Also a white vinegar/peroxide 50-50 mix works as a good solvent.

When I see that on a patch I normally that day take a wire brush and some Birchwood Casey Bore Scrubber. Spray the BWC down the bore and let it sit a while. Then hit it with that wire brush a few times. After that I swab with BWC bore scrubber on patches until they come up clean and no little lead shavings. I used to use brake cleaner but that is harsh on wood stocks.
