Ah, ok. Well, they shoot good. It seems like big conicals do most of the time.

I'm here also. Glad those bullets worked out for him as well.

Semisane, why adjust scope away from cold clean barrel shot? I try to keep all my sights set for that first shot since that is the shot that counts when hunting. Target shooting rifles, different story but for a hunting rifle, that first shot you made was absolutely perfect.

As you say, that first shot was perfect. That's because it was the way I had it adjusted for hunting, and I generally have all of my guns sighted for a cold clean barrel first shot.
That particular target was the first one in a range session in which I played around shooting at 150, 200 and 300 yards. I wanted a "dead on" 100 yard adjustment at the start of the game. Here's the 300 yard target. EDIT: If you're wondering why that 300 yard group is so far to the right, the scope mount is offset a bit left of the center line of the bore so the hammer will clear the scope's bell housing. That causes it to shoot about 3" to the right at 200 yards and 6" to the right at 300 yards. I've always wondered if that could have been a two or three inch group, and whether those two lower right shots were the gun's fault or mine. :D |
