From what I have read and see with the ones my sister has, those CF's are opened through hydraulic pressure entering a fluidic space correct? Seems that while those tips will drastically improve ballistic coefficient, terminal performance may well be drastically reduced from what everyone has experienced in the past with this bullet line.

Btw- I sold your sister her ML. I got some bullets I want to send her. Can you PM me her name and address so I can send them to her? Thanks |
Yes that hole seems awfully small though. Looks like it will be much too easy to clog with hair and hide before reaching a fluidic region. An idea you may suggest to them is to score the inner side of that tip deeply allowing it to break outwardly away easily on contact with the animal. That would probably entail the use of a special tip on a ram rod like the spin jag for those high dollar pointy bullets by parker.

Wow Grouse you really like to push those bullet hard. That is good accuracy. But don't you think 120 gr of BH209 is a lot more than needed? Have you tried a lighter load?

Those are nice looking bullets and nice shooting!
Are they somewhat soft copper like a Barnes TEZ? I Full Formed (not a true FF as only the rifling is engraved) some 250gr Barnes TEZ yesterday, it worked quite well. Send me some of the 265gr .452. I'll see how they shoot Full Formed out of my Brux 45 cal SML. 4 shot group of 250gr TEZ at 100yds |
That is some amazing groups there. And I am sure if that bullet came out of Leigh it will perform very well on game. But that is really pushing a bullet Grouse. What do you suspect/think the velocity of that round is? That has to be well into center fire type of velocities with (as many tend to forget) a much larger diameter bullet to begin with.

I'd like to see them shot with 100-110gr bh209. 120gr eats up the can of powder to darn fast.
I like those bullets though. Steel tip or aluminum? |
Very Interesting
