Patched Round Balls In An Inline

The gun is sighted in with 70 grains of 10 year old 3F Goex Pinnacle powder. There was a small clump in the can today. Shook the can and the clump went away. no swabbing between shots today.

Gun: Older model CVA Stag Horn .50 caliber
Scope: Simmons 4X Pro Diamond
Cap: #11 CCI magnum
Powder: 70 grains of 3F Goex Pinnacle
Patch: Unwashed drill cloth
Lube: Outers Weather Seal

Distance: 50 meters.

First shots were all over the place. Front sling swivel was hitting the front rest. Put on a new target spot and fired three more rounds with 6 o'clock hold.

Those .490 round balls made big holes in my military target:

I never thought you could get much accuracy with RB in a fast twist barrel. But some other members on here claim it can be done using light loads, like down around 50-60 grains. JackRyan and Cayugad say accuracy is possible. I'm going to try it too when I get back up north if I have nothing better to do.

I shoot em out of my Trads Vortek Pistol.

Excellent shooting! About what I get from a cab mountain stalker with the 1:32 twist.

The Knight LK rifles really got me started shooting roundball in inline rifles. And I found them amazingly accurate in some cases. Anything over 70 grains I find the accuracy falls off. Also the further you shoot the faster the accuracy falls off. But with my LK rifles and round ball I see no reason why I could not deer hunt around my place. Shots are 35 yards on average. 50 is a long shot. And out to those ranges I have no doubt I could hit what I am shooting at. Also its a lot of fun to shoot roundball.

That is good shooting. Also I am not a fan of slings. And I shoot from a rest. So accuracy is really contingent on those options. Off hand ... I stink!
