I guess I'm bored!!!

I bought a 45-70 CVA scout!!! I'm going to convert it and shoot smokeless out of it. The barrel is to short to burn a good load of BH209 but I'll shoot some over Chrono to see. I wanted a lightweight fast twist 45 and this was the fastest way right now!

So why not have Bestill build you one off one of ULites and have a better rifle to start with?

He's doing this one for me. I thought about the Ultralite but gonna build one eventually anyway. This build was very cheap and lite

ATM the Scout V2 is about the best deal available for a fast twist 45 break action conversion. The CVA Hunter has a 3" longer barrel but only available in blued.

Both are easily capable of sending a 275gr bullet down range at over 2300fps with very reasonable peak pressures.

I'd thought about doing that with a 45-70 H&R Buffalo Classic. But I just can't get myself really interested in smokeless muzzleloaders.

If BH209 works effectively that will be my first choice. If not probably will use N120 to start with.

In my Pacnor i use N120 mostly for sabots. H4198 has lower peak pressure for sabotless. You can get more velocity and lower pressures with H4198 sabotless vs N120.

N120 however produces some very good speed with sabots and 200gr bullets with very nice pressures.

Personally i think BH209 will really surprise you with a 300gr bullet in that 22" barrel. It should easily handle a recommended max load at around 2100fps.

Scout is a nice rifle however.
