The .58 Big Boer is on...

Well I took the TC .58 Big Boer to the range the other day. I want to take it into the woods this year and wanted to check her out. I started with PRB and she didn't like them. i then tried TC conicals, Maxi balls and Maxi Hunters. They shoot well, but nothing spectacular. I finally went to some Lee Mini balls a friend gave me a few months ago and they nailed the target!!!

I forgot my Goex and had to shoot my Pyrex RS. I was loading 85 grs. and getting nice results. I will be very comfortable walking in the woods with this fine smokepole!!!

Hopefully I will have some nice picots to post when I get back. I leave tomorrow and will be in my element for the next four weeks.

Wow rafsob, that's a hefty load for a Minie. What weight are they? How about a little poop regarding distance and group size.

I never could get the minnies to shoot well in my .58 caliber and I tried a lot of powder charges. But the GMB did a great job with patched round ball. But the GMB has been sold. BUT my custom .58 caliber Early Virginia is being built this week. So I can big bore again with a flintlock.

Four weeks! That sounds like an adventure. Ain't nothing like the confidence of toting the big old .58 around. I can't wait to put the smack down on something with mine. Hove fun and be safe.
