I could for the bear hunt. It's a rifle season.

Oh wait! Do you mean the bullet isn't legal in Colorado?

You need to use a bullet 215grns or heavier

MountainDevil54 10-12-2016 08:34 AM

only in 54cal +

Muley Hunter 10-12-2016 08:35 AM

Ok, I thought you were talking about the 265gr you talked about on MM.

I was wrong about 210grns. Out of a 50cal on Elk i can use 170grn bullet or heavier. I really dont remember shooting a 200grn Bloodline out of a 50cal but ill try that this winter.

As you can see in Rons pic, Dave eliminated the slits along the side of the bullet. Those slits were not letting the pressure build up in the hollow point to make those petals explode. By eliminating those slits the petals will build the pressure up that is needed to cause the most trauma/shock inside the animal you are harvesting.

I knew you were wrong when you said it, but I thought i'd let someone else point it out. :)

Its doesnt really matter cause i gotta use this new prototype bullet. But next year im gonna use a 200grn copper version and shoot an Elk for sure.

Next year i'll be using a lead conical almost twice that weight and going half the speed of yours.

They'll both kill.

Darn it. I need to try and get me an elk tag. You guys are making me drool.
What I'd really like to get is a bull tag for PA. There are some real B&C whoppers roaming our north central mountains.
