OT: my foot update

To all my friends out there who were wishing me well with my foot's tumor surgery I want to give you an update.
I went in this morning and the surgeon slit me open and took a biopsy and sent it to the lab. But it came back as inconclusive as being benign. So he stopped, stitched me up and the sample is being sent out for further evaluation. I go back on Sept 28th for a checkup and schedule a new surgery date.
But on a side note I am mobile so I can continue shooting. I'll just have to have my friend put up my targets and check on them while I sit at the bench and sip on a soda or iced tea!!! :guiness:

Semisane 09-13-2016 12:38 PM

Inconclusive as being benign Bronko? I heard it was inconclusive as being human.:D

At this point, anything that's not bad news is good news. I hope the results of the further evaluation is great news. Now go shoot and drink your tea.

cayugad 09-13-2016 02:54 PM

Well no bad news is good news. But I hope you feel better.

bronko22000 09-14-2016 05:57 AM

Yeah - I agree. My cousin (who had 2 bouts with cancer) told me if it was maligant they would have know immediately. So that - I pray is good.

cayugad 09-14-2016 10:19 AM

I have to confess to what I did to myself August 15th. I tore all the ligaments in my left foot and broke a small bone behind the little toe. Talk about HURT! But the doctor said it was because of the ligaments, not the break because the minor break went right back in place after it broke. It was a little white line on the X-ray she almost missed. They stuck me in a foot brace and of course crutches again. But I am out of the brace now, occasionally need a cane outside on uneven grass surfaces (where I did all this stepping into a hole). But in the house its as good as new. It did put a squash on my shooting for a while. I guess the older I get the less I bend and bounce back from minor things.

That's for sure. I'm finding even chigger bites heal slower than they used to.

When folks get our ages guys, we don't bounce anymore. We have a distinctive thud :(

Semisane 09-15-2016 01:06 PM

You know you're old if you grew up with these guys.

super_hunt54 09-15-2016 07:44 PM

You grew up? Shoot I still like me some Bug Bunny and Wiley Coyote!

now that there is FUNNY! Unfortunately true, but funny.

bronko22000 09-16-2016 05:45 PM

Heck of a time of year to schedule surgery! I won't be too bad as my recovery should only be 2 weeks. Just in time for the rut here in PA.

Bocajnala 09-16-2016 05:49 PM

Hey Bronk, Hope you're healed up and back at it soon. Tough to be limping around during the Fall time. Prayers your way.

I'll be archery hunting if I have to use a ground blind and crutches to get there. I have a pair of those insulated boot covers that I can put on over the goofy open toed sandal they give you to wear.

Semisane 09-17-2016 01:07 PM

Attaboy! :party0005:

Bocajnala 09-17-2016 02:53 PM

I shot an 8 point in 2006 from crutches. Can't get them if you're not in the woods!

I once moose hunted in Canada on crutches. I had a hunt planned, fell a few weeks before my leave date and broke the ankle right off, and broke the fibula bone in the leg. The guide said I should cancel but I went anyway. He laughed all the time, me walking through brush on crutches. But of course when your young a stupid you will try anything..

But the important thing - Did you get a moose??????

bronko22000 09-23-2016 01:42 PM

Quick update - Good news, the biopsy came back benign. I have another surgery to remove on Oct. 13th. And guess what? PA's early ML season starts on the 15th. Guess who'll be out hunting with an overboot and crutches! I just don't think I'll be doing much still hunting though.

Semisane 09-23-2016 04:31 PM

Great news Bronko. Go get'em gimpy.

No moose that year. Saw cows but no shooter. Still the fishing was real good too.

Great news on the biopsy. And the attitude. Get out there and get them. ATV's are great for dragging them in.. :D

Well I could likely put it off RA. But to know what it's like tape a marble at the bottom of your foot at the base of the middle toe and try walking on it all day! It's pretty darn uncomfortable even to wear a shoe/sneaker.

rafsob 09-27-2016 04:18 AM

My problem is that every year at this time I end up with some affliction. This time it is my lower back pain!!! One of these years I hope to walk into the woods pain free!!!

I've had a bad back for years too. But it comes and goes. Several years ago I was bear hunting in NC PA and was lucky enough to shoot a decent boar. My back was doing really well. That is up until I rolled him over to start to dress him out! Then POW - I pulled it out. Both me and the bear laid there for a good hour before I could finally move again. Luckily it was all downhill and when I got close enough I called one of the gang on the radio to come load us both on the truck!

surgery done - all went well. can do everything in 3 days as long as I keep it clean and dry.

Semisane 10-13-2016 03:25 PM

Keep it clean? Sound like forum rules. :D

Great news Bronko. Glad you're back in action.

Also it's great that you will be able to do everything. I need that surgery. It's been quite a while since I could do everything. I've always wanted to play the violin. Is that included in everything? :s2:
