Deer loads for .45 cal inline
 

I would like to get some opions on different loads for .45 caliber inline deer hunting. ie sabots, bullet weights and caliber, powder charges ect. I would also like here some thoughts on stainless vs blue barrels. Thanks and good hunting, Dickley.

Dickley: I am no expert.although I have been B/P hunting for over 35 years.

I shoot a 45 cal. CVA 150-magbolt.my wife also shoots the same..I use a 225 grainpower-belt bullet , pushed by 3 - 50grain pyrodex pellets. sighted in at 3" high at 100 yards,that makes it dead on at 150 and 3" low at 200 yards.although I really don' t think I will ever shot anything at 200 yards.the possibility is there.

my wife only uses 2 - 50 grain pellets in hers.a little less recoil.
all guns are different,so test your to see what load and bullet works best for you.

I shoot the 45 encore with 100gr pyrodex and a 155gr t/c xtp.When I first went to the range I had the 155xtp,180xtp and 195powerbelts. At 50 yrds I cloverd the 155' s with open sights 5inches high and three inches to the right.the 180gr were pretty spread out and the powerbelts had a group about 2inches but shot low and to the right.I have always liked shooting the lighter grain bullet for the flatter shooting.Try shooting some diff weight bullet and charges to see what your gun will do.Good luck

I shoot a Knight .45 disk. 150 gr Knight red hot sabot with 120 gr of loose pryodex.
I use CCI 209 primers. Loose powder seems more accurate than pellets., Have tried the 175 gr red hots with no results. And SS is the way to go.
