Good report Sharpsshooter. Those two shots at 200 yards were 4" apart. That's about what I got with a six-shot group at 200 yards with 85 grains GOEX in the Green Mountain barreled Renegade.
![]() That's about two MOA, which I figure ain't too shabby for slinging heavy lead out of a sidelock. A better shooter than I might even tighten that up a bit. My one try at 300 yards yielded a 6.25" five-shot group, which pleased me quite well. If you want to read an old post, I reported that range session here: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/blac...300-yards.html |
Sounds like fun. Where I used to shoot 300 yards is all grown in now which makes it an impossibility. It would take a chain saw and a brush hog to get it to where you could shoot that distance. Heck even today we had to use a sickle to cut a swath 100 yards long to clear the golden rod and grass out of the line of sight.

.......Since the scope is a bdc 250 I couldn't use the circles at this range without dialing down the power. I went to 4x ........
......today while walking around some, i accidentally found a place where i can shoot 300 yard, if i walk the target out. Soon as the cows are gone, i might just have me a good place to do some 300 yard shooting...........maybe..........maybe not. .. |

Which is why when i shoot long range, i twist the elevation dial not the power dial. Shooting long range by twisting up the elevation dial works much better for me than dialing down the power dial. Reducing power to shoot long range seems backwards. Another thing i like to do, is after sighting in at 100 yard, i dial up for 200 yard. After shooting at 200 yard, i fine tune the 200 yard aim; who cares if this put the 100 yard impact, off a little bit.

The Omega doesn't seem to track very accurately like my monarch or Vorteks Otherwise i would have done that rather than shrinking the target down til it was miniscule . |
