475 Caliber Deep Curl--80g Blackhorn
Banerbird sent these 275 grain Deep Curl bullets for to shoot.
The bullet went through the carpet/plywood, first four jug, bounced off the fifth jug, and ended up right below on the ground. .. |
Just wondering. how does it gain almost 4 grains of weight?? I would have thought it would have lost some.

That is a nice mushroom. |
From the looks of it, that bullet was more than 5 grains over. I'd have to guess it shed around 5 grains so that put's it around 10 grains over. That's some pretty pitiful quality control in my opinion. 2-5 grain variance is pretty much the norm in bullets over 200 grains in my experience. More than that is just shoddy QC.

When these bullets arrived in the mail, i weighed one of them at 277.3 grain. It appears i should have weighed them all, but i didn't. One thing i can relate is, Deep Curl bullets retain their weight very very well compared to other types. My guess is, this bullet weighed 278.7 grain, when unfired, my guess...........

That makes sense. I wasn't thinking about average weight. Thanks
