MV speed test

Just food for thought as .22 LR are similar in speed to ML. So, simple test visually see impact time.
Specs of test are in the description on the video.
740 fps and 1640 fps were tested.
Note the duck that ducked at the report of the rifles near the impact area about 200 yards out.

I don't know who this guy is but doesn't he know that it is unsafe to shoot across a body of water like that? Both those bullets likely ricocheted and went God knows where!

rest assured bonko2200 that the other side is uninhabited for a great distance both left, right and beyond.

I am actually surprised and looking for commentary on why there is not a greater disparity in the amount of time between the impacts, being that 1 bullet is traveling over 2x the other?

There is a very simple explanation. Ideally if it is 300 yards across that cove and the bullets impacted about 1/2 way across or approximately 450' from the muzzle the CB should have taken .608 seconds and the CCI .274 seconds. The trajectory of the bullets were not taken into account.
The major flaws in this test is two different rifles fired at the same time as close as possible with no reference to the level of the barrels and no timing device.
The horizontal plane (water) is not a good reference for this "test". The impact plane should be vertical for a more accurate result.
But even at this range of approx 150 yards the actual flight difference was about 1/3 of a second if the listed velocities were the actual velocities. That is a significant difference.
