Im not sure but ive seen quite a few CVA Apex 45cal customs using Bergara's CF rifle barrels. Never seen any in competition yet.

Do they have a class that requires a stock factory gun sold over the counter?
|
They did at one time. Its was the Manufacturers Inline Match. Knight won 5 or 6 years in a row before White spanked them with the "Varminter". Kind of a stretch calling the 36cal Varminter a factory offering especially when its not even legal for hunting deer in lots of states.

I have no doubt that everyone on the list would outshoot me and my rifles at this point. Congrats to all and I'd just love to drive down to Friendship some year just to learn from watching and talking to some of these guys

The shooters are all separated by class now and no longer by rifle weight. Everyone that shoots the match for the first time, is put in the Sharpshooter Class because they've never shot the match before and have no previous score. Exception: the shooter would actually ask to be placed in a higher class. There are 3 different classes: Master.... Expert.... Sharpshooter. Those who have shot and scored in previous matches, are put into their respective class by their highest score. Some may always shoot in Sharpshooter and never move up. NOW DO NOT HOLD ME TO THIS... BUT I WILL FIND OUT.... I think Sharpshooter is 0 to 152, Expert 153 to 163 and Master 164 and higher. This way new or less advanced shooters are not competing with others more advanced. |
Trap shooting was like that too. Everybody starts at the 16yd line and as you improve you move farther back to a max of 27 yds. That would be the handicap class where all the money was.

Sharpshooter......... 0 - 152 Expert................153 - 160 Master................161 - 170 |
Correction for load data under 'Bullet' for Mark Miller and Kenny Yoder - they did NOT use sabots.
As for shooter classification, it's the same as one of the NRA classifications- Master - 95% Expert - 90% Sharpshooter under 90% |
