OT Pictures

Guys can anyone tell me what's going on with my computer. The past couple days, for no reason I can think of, all the pics that someone posts are pixelated? But when I click on it and open it they are crystal clear. I don't know what happened. Maybe something in my settings changed?!?!

Same here on another forum. Not sure what causes it.

Try clearing your cache/history and do a total shut down and wait a few minutes before turning it back on.

Mountain Devil & Bronco, My IT security specialist SIL helped me with the problem. It's not really a virus or malware, but more of a attempt to redirect you to certain sites. He gave me a specific link to a free download that that seeks out & eliminates those sorts of bad programs. I would post the link, but I'm not sure I can do that here. If you'd like, send me a private message & I'll give you the link. When I downloaded the program & then ran the scan, it isolated 32 bugs, which I then deleted. It was amazing how much faster my computer ran after that.

Not all pics are doing it. Pics hosted here as attachments are doing it. Pics hosted on places like Photobucket using the IMG tag are not.

[IMG} tag shows up fine for me

Attachments can be iffy though because its not resizing the thumbnail properly. This is actually a 800x600 image. Its a forum issue. Not a virus or anything even remotely like a virus. The forum was updated to vBulletin 3.9.2.1 the other day and it all started after that.

There is NO redirect taking place. This image is hosted HERE. Simply checking the property of the image tells you that. http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/atta...pple-wine1.jpg

Here is the same picture using the Photobucket thumbnail tag instead of the IMG tag. Its fine so its obviously a site issue due to the forum software upgrade.

I have not experienced this problem yet. But normally if there is a problem, I somehow pick them up.

Cayuga, does the first picture of the wine bottles look pixelated to you? It is supposed to be a small thumbnail like the 2nd picture but instead it has been "magnified".

Semisane 04-15-2016 08:05 AM

Both of the wine bottle pictures look fine on my system.

Gm54-120 04-15-2016 09:32 AM

Actually, your first pic looks a bit sharper to me. Win 10, Google Chrome, 62 bit system, all Java updated, Nvidia card updated weekly. Can't say I like Win 10 so much. Forced updating irks me. I'd rather control my updates and what all is added to my computer.

Gm54-120 04-15-2016 12:06 PM

Here are the properties of the first wine attachment.

100px × 75px (scaled to 900px × 675px)

As you can see by 100px x 75px its thumbnail sized but im seeing it as 900px × 675px scaled up. Not the actual 800x600 of the uploaded pic. Clicking on the scaled up thumbnail i do see the actual image and its clear.

As far as Win10 next time get Proffesional. You can turn off updates through gpedit.msc (Group Policy Editor) In Win10 Home you can set your connection to "metered" as a work around.

When you set a connection as “metered,” Windows 10 won’t automatically download updates on it. Windows 10 will automatically set certain types of connections — cellular data connections, for example — as metered. However, you can set any connection like as a metered connection.

Semisane 04-17-2016 03:56 PM

Try Google Chrome and see if they are still pixelated.

Muley Hunter 04-18-2016 03:52 AM

I'm another one with no problems. Win 10 and Chrome.

both pictures look fine, but the first is listed as an attached thumbnail. And slightly smaller then the second.
