Judging Wind Speed? Try the Beaufort Scale

Next time I go hunting on the ocean I'll give that a try. :D :D :D :D

And while you're out there hunting on the ocean, if the wind is moving leaves and small twigs you will know it's 8 -12 mph. :s2:

I use a Caldwell wind wizard.
They are not all that expensive and it gives a very accurate digital reading of wind speed.

The wind wizard is neat; however, it doesn't account for conflicting winds and multiple wind speeds over distance. The average ML shooter prolly don't shoot at a great enough distance for the wind wizard to be feasible. That being said I own 2 of them. As far as the Beaufort wind scale it is handy to know. It is taught in the Scout Sniper Course at Ft Benning, GA. It is very handy to judge multiple wind speeds over greater distances.

They tell them they might as well stay in, past 7 on that scale? :)

Will this Beauford Scale fit in my Possibles Bag, sitting alongside my tripod stand rifle rest, three surround sound speaker system plugged into my Apple 6s IPhone downloaded deer call app and my battery-operated trail camera?

No problem throwing these things in a sack over my shoulder, enroute to the Michigan forests every day.

Keep your nose in the wind..........errrr..........waves.

Nice to know. But I don't see where you wet your finger and hold it up to the wind?
But really that's a nice visual scale. I wish it would have included swaying grass. Shooting long distance at antelope in a cross wind is pretty tricky. I bet Ron can attest to that.
