Default something in the barrel

i have a Knight 50cal disc extreme, 209 conversion breech plug, shooting 110 gr. blackhorn, and 300gr thor bullets. i cleaned the gun the other day ( end of season) and in the muzzle end i can see 3 spots of something resembling lead fowling. it is very hard and will not clean off with brass brush and birchwood casey bore scrubber. gun has always been kept spotlessly clean and these spots weren't there pre-season. any thoughts on getting this cleaned up?

I would try scrubbing In hot water first. If no luck, try some JB bore paste that should do it.

Just so we understand. You only clean the gun at the end of the season? What does that mean?

It's probably rust.

Your statement leaves us wondering about several things.
Was the gun fired during the season?
if so was it cleaned right after?
was the barrel dry with oil removed or oiled in barrel during season?
What do you normally shoot in it ? heavy lead? sabots? what powder?
It all makes a difference.
I have often wondered why we do not have a form to fill out for these kind of problems that defines the problem so there is much less guessing involved in finding the answer.
Different people do things different with out knowing just what the circumstances are it is hard to guess what you are looking at.
JB polish if its a stain and Evapo rust if it is any type of rust.

JB Bore Paste used as directed. If need-be afterwards and the spots are not completely removed, instead of a patch, bore brush and JB, use fine steel wool with JB and label-described oil in that affected area.

1.- did you oil the bore
2.- what oil
3.- how was it applied
4'- when was your pre-season on the calendar
5'- did you dry the bore and load the gun in preseason
6'- how did you dry the bore before loading with powder and bullet

He didn't say that. He said he cleaned the gun the other day after the season. But even if he did say that so what?

so blackhorn fouling attracts moisture which leads to rust, that's the problem.

If you are saying thats not true, then you are sadly wrong. Theres plenty on here that are smart enough and have on hand experience with BH209 rusting barrels up. I believe Chaded is one of them, along with 1 of my guns and one my brother in law owned.
