Excellent for a custom.

The fit and finish of customs, especially made in house receivers or custom shop offerings are much nicer. Lots of people wont appreciate the extra effort that goes into making that kind of receiver.

Some of us do however even if the rifle isn't "our cup of tea"

Gunwerks makes a ML rifle based on what looks like a Rem40X rimfire receiver. Its a in house receiver though.

Base price $5750 :jaw:

I like the looks makes me think of my Remmy 700's.

Also if you want the Tupper wear stock and don't like the color Krylon sells a lot of paint in easy to use cans.
What color do you want?

I did my Savage 93F 22 mag, decided I am not crazy about the look so after deer season is over I am going to get some Krylon and redo it, Maybe fish scale style.

Cooper............... you listening?

Not necessarily true - what does Friendship have to do with a quality ML hunting rifle. It is for hunting not for putting holes in paper. What may happen at Friendship really has no bearing for me. They do not use the loads a Hunter might use nor is the rifle used in the conditions that a Hunter might use it in.

Friendship is a fun event and a lot thoughts may generated from the competition but nothing that will help me improve my hunting this year. Take Knight for as an example you can not even buy the the 1/18 Bull Barrel that they won with -really couldn't hunt with it if you could buy it. Even Be still re-barreled his Mountaineer for friendship.

I think you and I and others having the rifle and using it as designed - then sharing the information would do far more for the normal hunter.

Miller did very well at Friendship with his Mountaineer 45 1-30. The load data was within Westerns recommendations too. 120gr of BH209 and a Parker 275gr bullet. Ive shot this same load in my Super DISC, its impressive and not much slower than my "normal" NULA loads.

Competition may not directly sell hunting rifles but Tony Knight, Ken Johnston and Doc White were quite proud of theirs teams accomplishments. Its a worthwhile advertising tool especially when trying to sell a higher priced custom build.

It isn't an issue of rather Friendship has anything to do with quality. It doesn't, so where'd that come from? Do you think that those that shoot at Friendship don't hunt with those same rifles and bullets they use on the range? It isn't an issue of "you" or "me", its getting the rifle out in front of a different group of shooters.

Bestill, whom I've had many conversations with, built the rifle to compete not just in matches, but in the Nationals. There are not many who build rifles like Bestill did for shooting at Friendship and actually the production Knight rifles are very good shooters. I know a guy that has three Knight 1:18 barreled rifles.

So no, Friendship has nothing to do with the quality of the rifle, that's done at Cooper. However Cooper has put a lot of money into a "hunting rifle", that most would never consider because of the price. Get that rifle out on a range and determine what its shooting quality is and it may appeal to an entirely different group of muzzleloader shooters/hunters.

I hear something about White going to start building again. Any truth to this?

I heard that rumour as well.

I have/had a 1/18 Knight that won friendship a couple times. I can assure you the 1/20 Super Disc will out shoot it with sabots. Conicals I can't tell you which is better.
