You're lucky you can buy BP locally. I have no such option, and I hate paying the Hazmat fee every time I order powder.

I was talking to the local warden the other day. If he had his way the inlines would have to shoot in the rifle seasons, and the muzzy season would be for sidelocks only. I wish he was the one making those decisions, but it will never happen here. Colorado is too greedy and wants to sell tags.

Whats the difference? Every year I go to Colorado in Rifle season I take a Muzzleloader. Because that's what I choose to do. In Colorado Elk ML season, cant someone use a sidelock if they want to? I have two advantages with my inline versus my Flintlock. One is weather, and the second is weight. Other then that, there are no advantages for me. Im only referring to Colorado ML season.

Muzzies don't get first dibs in all states. When the muzzie season comes after firearms why should you be restricted even further? When you only get one buck tag, why should you be more restricted?

People love to spout off what muzzie season "should be" but one solution does not work well in all states.

No one is stopping you from using a muzzie in your firearms season. Go right ahead. I do it every year.

Im glad my state hasn't given in to the whiners who think they know whats best for everyone. Next year crossbows are allowed during bow season and the archers are having a fit.

No, an inline still has advantages over a sidelock if the sidelock uses traditional ammo. A PRB loses power fast. A heavy conical drops fast.

An inline with modern powder and bullets will shoot pretty flat, and have much more energy at longer ranges. With good sights, and young eyes 200yd shots are normal for inlines.

What the warden was talking about is a true primitive season. Sidelock, PRB, black powder, or Pyro only because BP is hard to find.

They give the muzzy shooters a hunt in the middle of the rut. This was done originally, because it was a primitive season. Well, the weapons aren't primitive anymore.

I'm sure you're aware Colorado banned inlines for one year. They go too much pressure from hunters and manufactures, and gave in. They also considered banning B H 209, but it never made it either.

Like I said. What they have, and what they really want are two different things.

You're blowing hot air. I posted what the warden wanted.

A crossbow is no way easier then a vertical bow. The only advantage I see with a crossbow is shooting straight ahead and far. Try turning around and shooting those boat anchors. Ive used one the last two years and hate it. Im going to get my back fixed after hunting season and go back to a vertical bow for sure.

Exactly, that's why I would never use those unless the laws said so. I don't think game should suffer because a few want to use primitive everything. But the law shouldn't keep those primitive guys from doing what they want either as long as its ethical.

But primitive to me is a Flintlock and Bow. Number 11's and 209 primers for ignition are not primitive by any means. I think Pa is great, they have a primitive season and its a great time to hunt. If you don't like it, don't hunt that season.

Of course I do, but I don't push it on others. (too often) All I have ever used is a sidelock and PRB in my muzzy hunting. Even though i've been curious about inlines I never actually hunted with one, and if I was planning to do it I was going to use it in rifle seasons. Every time I had an inline as hunting season got closer i'd wouldn't feel right, and i'd go back to a sidelock. I hope i'm over doing that now.

I bought a Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle, and I want to live out my years using it for BP shoots and hunting.

If Colorado ever decided to offer a primitive muzzy season i'd be happier than a pig in slop. I'm not holding my breath for it. I can 'y even get a muzzy tag now without a bunch pof points, because so many inline hunters grab them. They aren't true muzzleloaders who shoot the gun for the pleasure of it. It's just an extra season for them. It's sad that I can't hunt the unit I live in. Colorado would rather have the NR tag fees than mine. It shouldn't be hard to understand how I feel. It's not right. I've bought tags in Colorado for 60years. I don't have many hunts left in me. Some consideration should be given. I'm not looking for a freebe. Just let me and others like me have a tag. I'll gladly pay for it.

Pecussion caps were around in 1820. Not primitive enough for you? All half stock Hawkens were caplocks. Shooting a flintlock half stock Hawken is using a gun that never existed. Yes, a GPR flintlock is wrong if you're trying to keep it real.

As for the PRB? You claimed a lot of kills with it. Now that you don't use one it's unethical? Please.

Using a PRB is fine, and has been for centuries. As long as you know it's limitations it's fine. A hunter should know the limitations of any round they use.
