Knight Bullet
 

Long ago I asked what bullet Knight used for the 50 cal 260gr jacketed hollow point bullet and I got info. here that said they are a Speer 45 cal 260gr revolver JHP bullet. When I see pics of the bullet they look shorter than the remaining Knight bullets that I have. Can anyone confirm that I have the right information? Thanks

I have a 100box on my bench, just looked at it.

Unfortunately they are probably unavailable - as most of the Speer bullets have been for the past 2 years. Knight hasn't even had them for sale on their site. There are some stores online where you can buy them in the Knight 20pack with sabots, but buying bulk is obviously cheaper if you can find them. I have shot 15-20 deer with those bullets, they work very well. I use crush rib sabots with them, a little easier loading and shoot very well in my guns.

A few years ago I switched to Deep Curls, they work even better. The 240/.429 is my favorite. It and the 300gr have the same design and are very impressive. I'm personally not a fan of the 250 with the huge hollow point. In my testing they fragmented, the shallow hollow point design held together perfectly every time.

Edit to say: I did see some of the 260's available online pre-packaged. So you have that option if you cant find bulk. Flounder posted below also, so that is an option too.

Flounder, Thanks you very much that is very kind of you. Right now we are trying to find some at a couple of the small guns shops locally that doesn't turn over stock that much. If I need some, how many can you spare?

redmag, I checked my bullet drawer and I don't have as many as I thought I might have. I have 32 of them. If you can't find any and if you are willing to pay shipping in a small flat rate box I will send them to you.

You can buy some 240gr T/C Cheapshots and keep rolling along-like it's the same bullet. They are almost clones of one another in performance.

(note) Some have changed the T/C Cheapshot plastic sabot for better success. Two better options are the MMP EZ load three-petals or the Harvester Crush Ribs.

Also, don;t push either the 260 Knights or 240 Cheapshots too hard, or they pencil right thru. Keep your charges to 1300-1400 for bang-flops (out to 125 yards) and some nice expansion. Been witness to a few of these.

The bullet he is asking about, the Knight 260gr JHP won't pencil through. They expand very well, at lower or higher speeds. They also hold together well.

I can't comment on how the cheapshots perform, never shot a deer with them.

That bullet brings back great memories in my early muzzleloading. I called Knight Muzzleloading co in the mid to late 80s with a question about which bulletwas best for southern whitetails, the lady told me to hold and switched me over to Mr Knight himself who told me that he used speer 260gr bullets. I was amazed that the owner took time to talk to a customer. I dropped many a deer with that bullet.

I just found a partially used box of them also - I really have no need for... If you want to pay the $6 for a post office flat rate box you can have them.

It is very close to a full box - I used them as a sub bullet for shooting paper when I was shooting Nosler .451x260 gr. bullets.
